WHAT IS ACT WORKKEYS?

ACT WorkKeys is a job skills assessment system that measures foundational workplace abilities essential across various industries. Developed by the makers of the ACT college exam, WorkKeys focuses on real-world skills rather than academic knowledge, making it a valuable tool for both employers and job seekers.

The three main assessments—Applied Math, Graphic Literacy, and Workplace Documents—evaluate an individual's ability to solve job-related math problems, interpret visual data, and understand written instructions. Based on their performance, individuals can earn a National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC), which comes in Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum levels.

The NCRC is a nationally recognized credential that helps employers identify qualified candidates, reduce training time, and boost employee retention. For job seekers, it’s a competitive advantage that showcases their readiness for the workforce.

WorkKeys also supports regional workforce development. Communities that adopt the system can become ACT Work Ready Communities, signaling a commitment to aligning education with employer needs.

No previous education needed.

ACT WorkKeys benefits individuals of all ages and education levels—whether or not they have a high school diploma, GED, or college degree. It measures real-world job skills like math, reading, and data interpretation, helping people showcase their abilities regardless of past academic achievements. The National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) proves to employers that you’re ready to work, making it easier to get hired or promoted. It’s especially helpful for those changing careers, re-entering the workforce, or looking to build confidence in their skills. WorkKeys opens doors and creates opportunities, no matter where you’re starting from.
