WHAT IS THE NCRC?
The National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) is a nationally recognized credential that certifies an individual’s essential workplace skills. Developed by ACT, the NCRC measures abilities in three key areas: Applied Math, Graphic Literacy, and Workplace Documents. These are the foundational skills needed for success in nearly every job across industries.
Individuals who complete the ACT WorkKeys assessments can earn an NCRC at one of four levels—Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum—based on their test performance. Each level indicates the range and complexity of jobs the certificate holder is qualified for.
The NCRC is especially valuable because it focuses on real-world skills, not academic background. It benefits people of all education levels—whether or not they have a high school diploma, GED, or college degree. It’s a way to show employers that a candidate has the practical skills needed to succeed, even if they don’t have a traditional résumé.
