Ace of Clubs House

A living museum, the 22-sided house was built with the winnings from a poker game. Legend has it that James H. Draughon’s winning card was the ace of clubs. Architecturally unique, the Italianate Victorian home is most notable for its three octagonal wings and one rectangular wing that join to form the distinct shape of a “club”. 903.793.4831 • Ace of Clubs House

Texarkana is home to a wide array of historically significant architecture and landmarks. From Victorian homes to sweeping sanctuaries, Texarkana offers a cross section of architectural genres. P.J. Ahern House

Arkansas Champion Magnolia

The largest magnolia tree in Arkansas is estimated to be 185 years old. The tree, located on 4700 County Avenue, is 16 ft. 7 in. in diameter, 61 ft. tall and has an 82-foot wing span. Certified Arkansas’ largest Magnolia by the Arkansas Forestry Commission.


Monuments

Some of Texarkana’s historical monuments include include the World War I Memorial, Korea/Vietnam Memorial, Confederate Monument, James Bowie Monument, the Police Officers’ Memorial, Miller County World War I Memorial, the Salvation Army Band Bronze Sculpture and the World War II Memorial.


Museum of Regional History

Housed in the city’s oldest brick building, all new galleries with exhibits tell of the region’s history including agriculture, early industry, civil rights and World War II. Perot Theater

A jewel of the region, bringing the best of Broadway, classical music, ballet, jazz, modern dance and more to Texarkana. First opened in 1924 as the Saenger Theatre, Emil Weil’s Italian Renaissance design is an architectural marvel. Through the generosity of native son H. Ross Perot, his sister Bette Perot, and area residents, the beautiful old theatre was saved and restored into one of the nation’s major performing arts centers. Rose Hill Cemetery

One of the oldest and historical cemeteries in Texarkana. Founded as “city cemetery” in 1874 on 100 South Lelia Street. About 70 Confederate soldiers and 3 known Union soldiers are interred here along with many prominent local citizens.


Scott Joplin

Experience the life and genius of native son, Scott Joplin, while visiting the interactive musical exhibit dedicated to Joplin located at the MORH. Walk in Joplin’s footsteps at the historic Orr Schoolhouse. A colorful display of the life and accomplishments of the Pulitzer Prize winning composer and area native is located at 3rd and Main Streets at the Scott Joplin mural. Silvermoon on Broad

Texarkana Regional Arts Center

The beautifully renovated Regional Arts Center began life in 1909 as a United States District Courthouse. The old courtroom is now a grand hall with a 26-foot-high ceiling. National touring art exhibitions grace gallery walls 12 months a year, and the halls ring out when the rolls are playing on the unique reproducing player piano. Union Station

Union Station sits diagonally on the Arkansas-Texas state line at 101 Front Street. During the day of rail travel, more than 20 passenger trains stopped here each day. The building is the current home to Amtrak. Drive by and see this historic treasure today.
